It was at a Halloween party Angela had in grad school where her and Mica first chanced to meet. She was dressed as Mother Nature and he was a lumberjack - talk about “opposites attract”! After grad school the couple moved to Pennsylvania where Mica accepted a teaching job at a college. They still came back to visit their friends in New Hampshire often and decided to spend New Years at the seacoast there. On New Year’s Eve day Micah took Angela to the beach, the location of their very first date and many dates since. Despite the cold they walked along the beach for a while and right before heading back Mica shocked her by getting down on one knee with a ring in his hand. Even more of a surprise, Mica had arranged for a photographer to capture the entire proposal, and did not reveal his secret to Angela until the eve of their wedding where he presented the photos to her as a wedding gift.
Angela grew up in Rutland, Vermont and Mica is from New Hampshire so they both love New England and knew they wanted to have their wedding there. Angela had grown up near the Mountain Top Inn and they had attended a friend’s wedding there, so she knew it had everything on her wish list. The location is stunning and it has the perfect blend of rustic and elegant. Because of this, Angela and Mica did not feel that they had to do much else in terms of decorating. They played off of the natural environment with neutral colors of white, gray, and green. They used wooden flower boxes, geometric lanterns, and candles to keep things simple and intimate.
Ben and Jerry’s ice cream has been a way the couple has celebrated milestones throughout their relationship so they knew serving their guests some of their favorite flavors was a must! They also wanted to include their beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Jengo, and were thrilled that he could stay at the resort with them and be there for the ceremony.
Angela and Mica’s advice to other couples planning their wedding is: “Don’t get caught up in the little details. You know what you like and what you don’t. Just go with your first instinct. We planned our dream wedding in six short months and much of that was possible because we didn’t stress over the tiny details. The more sure you are of what you want and how you want the day to go, the less likely you are to be influenced by everyone else who has an opinion. We also found a venue that made planning our wedding incredibly easy, meaning that on the day of the wedding, we weren’t running around tending to last minute decisions and we could really enjoy the entire experience. Most importantly, remember that the only thing that really matters is that at the end of your wedding day, you are husband and wife. And that is the best feeling in the world!”
