Meaghan & Jerry Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Inn at the Round Barn Farm Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

Meaghan and Jerry grew up together-graduating from the same high school- but did not start dating until their Junior year of college. Jerry attended Norwich University and Meaghan went to Saint Michael’s College. The couple spent a lot of time exploring Burlington and so it was only fitting that the Queen City was where Jerry proposed to Meaghan, during a surprise weekend getaway.

Even though Meaghan had moved to Massachusetts, and Jerry was stationed at Fort Sill, the couple knew that Vermont was where they had to have their wedding. Once they visited the Inn at the Round Barn Farm they fell in love with the picture perfect barn and scenery. Not the mention the delicious food!

Meaghan and Jerry’s advice to other couples planning a wedding is: “Don’t sweat the small stuff. I unexpectedly started a new job two months before our wedding and with that didn’t have time to finish some of the smaller things. At the end of the day those little details didn’t effect the day. Also, don’t let vendors and venues convince you to spend excess money on minor details that your guest won't even notice.”

Suzanne and Joe Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Vermont Themed Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

Suzanne and Joe wanted to keep their wedding as "Vermont" as possible, working with many amazing local vendors to bring their vision to life. From the cozy rooms at the Inn at Weathersfield, to the antler centerpieces (a nod to Joe's passion for hunting), their efforts resulted in a hearfelt and home spun celebration full of Vermont charm. The menu at their rehearsal dinner and the reception was mostly sourced from Vermont, and they gave each guest a small burlap bag filled with amazing locally made products. Suzanne and Joe are both from Vermont and could not have imagined having their wedding anywhere else.

Elizabeth and Heather Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Same Sex Marriage | Intimate Bed and Breakfast Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

It seems fitting that Heather and Elizabeth first met while working at a bridal gown store - a fitting omen to their future. Another magical omen occured on the night Heather proposed to Elizabeth, at a Michael Buble concert. What started out as a bad experience with fraudulent tickets turned into the perfect proposal experience, with a cannon firing off red and white hearts exactly as Elizabeth said yes! The couple chose to have their destination wedding in Vermont since it was not legal for them to marry in their home state, and Elizabeth has always loved the East Coast.

The Readmore Inn had everything they were looking for in terms of accommodations and ambiance, and they chose the theme of "Books" to play along with the name of the Inn. Simple and family oriented, everyone stayed with them at the Inn and they enjoyed spending time with those closest to them every morning at breakfast. They shared a bridesmaid and Elizabeth had their florist create a ring corsage for her to carry instead of the traditional bouquet.

Some of their favorite moments from the celebration included;

  • How beautiful the Popolo was for their reception, including vases of flowers that the owner took upon himself to place on each table.
  • The most amazing carrot cake they hadd ever eaten - a naket carrot cake with salted caramel drizzled on top - made by the Popolo.
  • Being able to get dressed up the next day for a second photo shoot with Cricket Polis of Polis Photography, who offered to do that in place of her usual engagement photos since Elizabeth and Heather were from out of state.

Elizabeth and Heather's advice for other couples planning their wedding is; "Make it simple and make you and your partner the priority."

Rebecca & Peter Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | The Round Barn, Waitsfield Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

Rebecca and Peter met on a cold and drizzly September day on a geological field trip in western Vermont. Despite the miserable weather, the two hit it off and eventually started dating. They decided to have their wedding in Vermont because they were excited to share how exceptional the state is for everything from the people, to the scenery, to the food. Surrounded by their families and best friends, it was the perfect evening of great food, beer, and company - everything they love in life.

One of their favorite moments of the evening was their impromptu performance with their band of the song “Lawyers, Guns, and Money” by Warren Zevon. They had asked the band to learn the song since it was one of their favorites, but little did they know they would be the ones singing it! With all of their guests singing along with them it is a special moment they will always remember.

Rebecca and Peter’s advice for other couples planning their wedding is: “Take a deep breath… It will all work out and be great! You will hire people that do this for a living and will help take care of all of the details you are probably stressing over.”

Elizabeth & Dylan Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Waitsfield Vermont Barn Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

Elizabeth and Dylan’s relationship evolved from friendship to something more during their time at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. On their eighth anniversary they planned a hiking trip in New Hampshire but what Elizabeth thought would be a day trip was really a romantic weekend getaway in a log cabin that Dylan had planned. On the first evening while sitting by a waterfall at sunset, Dylan proposed!

Elizabeth grew up in Vermont and always envisions having her wedding there someday. The couple wanted a vanue that was both indoors and outdoors, with a beautiful view. The Skinner Barn had everything on their checklist, and more. While the day of their wedding seems like a blur of amazing events, the feeling of love and support from their friends and family is what stands out to them most. An indescribable feeling of joy to accompany a surreal weekend of celebrating their relationship and marriage.

Elizabeth and Dylan have this advice for other couples: “All the details are fun (and sometimes stressful) to plan but remember what it’s all about.  No matter what the details look like, it will be the most amazing day, celebrating you and your partner with so much love from family and friends.  One thing we did is we took a moment to ourselves right after the ceremony, we walked down the aisle and went straight to the side of the barn, where they had set up a glass or champagne for us and we just had a few minutes to reflect and be alone, it was one of the most memorable moments of our wedding.  So even if it’s only a few minutes, take it, spend a few minutes alone with your new husband/wife.”
