Rick & Megan Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Tyler Place Family Resort | Vermont Bride Magazine

Megan and Rick initially met at a cafe at the University of Vermont, but it wasn't until Rick invited Megan boating on Malletts Bay that they sparked a connection. Their engagement was picture-perfect, with champagne by the fire at the Von Trapp Lodge in Stowe, followed by a horse drawn sleigh ride at sunset where Rick got down on one knee in the sleigh and proposed. The couple already knew the perfect place to hold their wedding—The Tyler Place Family Resortwhich is owned by Rick’s family. Their guests were able to stay on the property in the resort's cabins, where they were greeted by welcome bags filled with Vermont organic products.

The Tyler Place Resort offered a beautiful backdrop to their celebration, which included an outdoor ceremony under an arbor, and signature cocktails and appetizers on the lawn. Their advice for other couples planning their wedding: “Keep it simple and don’t spend more than you can afford.  People will remember the good times and human interactions, not the expensive items littering your wedding site.

Sarah & Michael | Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Stowe, Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

Sarah and Michael may have fallen in love in Florida, but when it came time to plan their wedding they wanted to have it in Sarah's home state-Vermont. After touring the Stowehof, in Stowe, they knew the cozy and welcoming feel of the inn was exactly what they were looking for. It also helped that it is surrounded by the beautiful mountains. Their wedding celebration was fun, cozy, and carefree - just like their personalities.

It was important to them both that they honored their families. The talit over the chuppah was from Mike's relatives and Sarah's hairpeice was originally worn by her great-grandmother when she was married. Their advice to other couples planning their wedding; "Take your time and follow your heart!"

Jessica & Josh Florida Wedding Inspiration | Wedding at the Brevard Zoo | Disney Themed Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

Since Josh proposed to Jessica in front of Cinderella's castle at the Magic Kingdom in Disneyworld (Jessica's first time visiting), the couple wanted to continue the Disney theme throughout their wedding. Everything about the day was magical, especially the venue, the Brevard Zoo, where Jessica and Josh exchanged vows while giraffe grazed in the background.

Callie & Canaan Boho Vermont Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

When photographer Lauren Alisse found out her best friend Callie was getting married she knew exactly how she wanted to photograph the boho-beauty. Then the bride asked her to be her Maid-of-honor! Despite it sounding impossible, she pulled out being both the MOH and the photographer for the wedding (thanks to a second-shooter friend). The entire wedding was a group effort of friends and family coming together to make it all happen. A bridesmaid hand crafted the centerpieces out of dried flowers and drift wood that the groom's mother collected. She also made decorations out of wooden circles and yarn - perfect for a bohemian feel! Callie, the bride, purchased fabric from a local shop in Burlington and attached them to mason jars with the help of her mother and another bridesmaid. Lauren also made the bridesmaid's bouquets out of babys breath, and Callie's mom made a handkerchief for her to carry down the aisle as her "something new".

Katherine & Neil | Real Vermont Love Story | Basin Harbor Club | Vergennes Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

Katherine and Neil first met during a dinner in Beijing, as part of a study abroad program. At dinner with friends, Katherine poured Neil some tea in a gesture of customary manners, but Neil became convinced she was flirting with him. The rest is history. Neil’s original plan for proposing included a hike up Mount Mansfield, but Katherine persuaded him it was too far from Brooklyn for a weekend getaway. He scrambled for another plan, ending up on Breakneck Ridge near Beacon, New York. Katherine is from Vermont and her family has been visiting the Basin Harbor Club for almost 100 years. They loved the idea of choosing a location steeped in family history and somewhere they could plan an entire weekend together with their loved ones, swimming, playing games, and catching up.

To read more of Katherine and Neil's love story and see more photos of their wedding, make sure you check out the Summer/Fall issue of Vermont Bride Magazine, available at the end of May on this website and in newsstands throughout New England!

Janie & Blake | Real Vermont Wedding | The Hildene Manchester, Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

On a rainy night in March, Janie and Blake were grabbing cocktails with friends in Manhattan. Their eyes met from across the room and Blake came over to introduce himself and they have been together ever since. Fast forward to another rainy day, this time in Vermont, Blake and Janie had attempted to tour the Hildene mansion but were thwarted by the rain and returned to her parent’s home in Winhall. As they ran to the porch for cover, Blake got down on one knee and popped the question.

Janie and Blake equally love the mountains of Vermont and the outdoors, and after they visited Hildene, this time without the rain, they both knew it was the perfect place to exchange their vows. Wanting to respect the natural beauty of the gardens at the mansion, the couple kept their color palette true to the surrounding flora with shades of green, pink, orange, and white. Gold metallic and mercury glass added some sparkle and shine to the cocktail hour and reception.

Amy & Andrew Woodstock Vermont Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine | Summer Fall Issue

We are so excited about our newest issue for Fall and Summer 2016 - it is at the printer as I type this! It is full of amazing real weddings from all over Vermont, as well as fun, whimiscal, colorful, and enchanting ideas and inspiration. I know we say this every time, but it is our best issue yet. We love to share even more pictures of our real wedding love story features right here on the blog. There is only so much room in the magazine pages and there are always loads of other beautiful pictures to share. So today we are giving you a sneak peak of the wedding of Amy and Andrew at The Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, Vermont.

Amy and Andrew grew up in the same small town but their paths had never crossed. It was fate that the two should meet, years later, at a bar in Boston and discover how close they had been yet what they had been missing. After Andy proposed, on a snowy winter day in a state park walking their dog Leroy, the couple decided that Vermont would be the perfect place to exchange their vows. The enchanting front gardens at The Woodstock Inn immediately spoke to the couple and the rest of the details fell together. A romantic Vermont theme full of greenery and flowers, with accents of white, champagne, and light coral were used to make things pop.

To see more photos from Amy and Andrew's wedding and to read their entire love story, be sure to pick up a copy of the Vermont Bride Summer/Fall 2016 issue, out in stores at the end of May!

Kristyn & Eric's Bright and Colorful Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

With her background in design and her skills as a baker and business owner, it is no surprise that Kristyn's wedding came together with a bounty of color and stylish details. The jaw droppingly beautiful estate that served as their venue was set in the valley of the foothills of Vermont. Towering trees and soft mossy lawns served as the backdrop and bright pops of color from every direction, made it come alive. Each piece was pulled together effortlessly and created a magical backdrop for Eric and Kristyn's day.

Stephanie & Robby's Safari Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

Robby and Stephanie dreamed of a rustic style wedding full of sentiment and designed to pull the heartstrings. They met in Kindergarten and both have a special place in their heart for animals, especially since Stephanie's father is part owner of Safari Wilderness Ranch. Stephanie and Robby decided that the barn at the ranch was the perfect backdrop for their nuptials and celebration. Stephanie's vision of a romantic, simple, rustic, yet elegant wedding was filled with vintage details such as authentic butter churns, mason jars, mini cobbler favors made on site, custom made beer bar, and customized mason jar placecards. The day included the most perfect weather for an outdoor intimate ceremony, breathtaking flowers and gorgeous dresses. Stephanie and Robby were wed surrounded by their loved ones and wild African and Asian animals.
