Green Mountain Swing is an 18-piece big band based in Central Vermont. We play tunes made famous in the swing era of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and many others—hits of the thirties (“In the Mood”, ”I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm”), forties (“Beyond the Sea”, ”Laura”), and fifties (“Satin Doll”, ”Midnight Sun”). We also draw from more recent decades with songs like “It’s Not Unusual”, “Moondance”, and “YMCA.” We play tunes of all tempos: ultra-peppy (“That’s A Plenty”), up-tempo (“American Patrol”), moderate swing (“Fly Me to the Moon”), and slow (“When I Fall in Love”, “Misty”, “Moonlight in Vermont”). We play cha-chas, tangos, mambos, waltzes, and polkas. If there’s a tune you want, chances are we can track it down and play it.
In recent years we have performed at dances, concerts, college reunions, and boat cruises on Lake Champlain. Our 2009 dates included performances at Taste of the Valley at the Sugarbush Resort, the Waitsfield Farmer's Market, the Mad River Craft Fair, and a private wedding on the Waterbury Reservoir.

Green Mountain Swing donates all net proceeds to music scholarships for young musicians in central Vermont, helping them with expenses for private lessons and music camps.
