Babette-Coons

Babette (LaBelle) & Mark Coons, May 5, 2007, at the Stables & Inn at Pigeon Hill Farm - Page 1

As I approach the celebration of our 2nd anniversary I look back and am blessed at all the wonderful memories already created in such a short period of time. Mark and I knew from the moment we met that it would be forever. A feeling that can not be described with words. From that first cup of coffee we shared, we knew the magic we felt would only get stronger with time.

At a time in both of our lives with so much uncertainty going on, that last thing we expected was to find love, but that is exactly what happened.

We knew until that time, we’d only existed, now we were going to live. After a year of combining families and households Mark said it wasn’t enough., he needed to be closer yet ,and that is how we came to be engaged. We drove by a jewelry store one day and he just pulled in, no words, we just went in and chose my ring. I remember my youngest sister calling me that day and saying, “guess who’s getting married” and I said “me”, she said “no silly me” and I said “ me too”, so we were both engaged on the same day.

We spent a year planning our wedding , actually we planned our wedding around our honeymoon.

We know that we wanted to be married in the spring so we booked a 2 week spa vacation and then chose the date. I knew from the beginning our wedding was going to be intimate , family and close friends. We wanted simple but elegant and as stress free as possible. I did not want the usual reception with tons of faux decorations and all that time and energy concentrating on what was just not important to us. We searched for that perfect venue without luck until a friend told me of The Stables at Pigeon Hill Farm in East Berkshire Vermont. I had been friends with the owners Michael and Jeffery for years but didn't realize they had opened yet. I drove there, pulled in and knew in that instant that is where we would become husband and wife. They were working in the gardens and I asked about seeing the carriage barn. They opened those rustic barn doors and I knew, I didn’t care about any other details , this is where I was going to be married. Breathtaking, rustic, elegant, simple, perfect. They knew my vision and I left them with it. I didn’t have to concentrate on that aspect anymore, it was in there hands. They handled every detail flawlessly and made our day perfect. They truly are the wedding planners, there endless attention to detail and tireless effort to see that every guest is accommodated is astounding.
