Sabrina Dommenge

In 2003, Sabrina moved to

New York to pursue her professional modeling career. It was there she first met Kevin Dommenge. After four years of fast paced New York living, the couple had the opportunity to move to Hong Kong. They decided to take the leap and move to Asia!

On November 10th, 2008 while visiting the Taj Mahal for their five-year anniversary Kevin proposed! It was an incredible and much welcomed surprise for Sabrina!

Eleven months turned out to be the perfect amount of time to plan a wedding. Every second was needed as it becomes more of a challenge when the bride and groom reside in Hong Kong, the bride’s family resides in Georgia, the groom’s family resides in New Jersey, and the wedding is in Vermont!  When Sabrina first mentioned Vermont as a possible location for the wedding, my first thought was “why NOT Vermont?”. The couple travelled there several times before and loved the beauty of the area, as well as the food and the helpful and friendly locals.  Thank heaven for email, for the internet, for Skype, for professionals who deliver what they promise to, and for Sheila Burks, the wedding planner for Hildene (www.Hildene.com).  Sheila was indeed a Godsend guiding Sabrina long distance in selecting the florist, caterer, cake bakery, and a myriad of other service providers who pulled the event together with the greatest of ease.

Sabrina Sikora Wedding

Sabrina gave the professionals

room to do what it is they do so well.  Nancy Bishop of Nancy Bishop Floral Design was given free reign to design floral arrangements built around an antique silver service, and the bridal party bouquets were Nancy’s own vision of bounteous fall colours and textures.  The Lily and The Rose catered an incredible feast from succulent sushi hor d’eurves to triple-cut lamb chops served in martini glasses to a trio of desserts including a chocolate bomb, apple crisp and tiramisu!  Justin Cash Photography (www.justincashweddings.com) was confirmed to shoot the wedding because of his photo-journalistic approach.  All Sabrina was truly concerned about was making sure that the guests had a fantastic time and saying “I do” to Kevin.

To complement the feast

for the wedding, the rehearsal dinner by comparison was casual and earthy – something uniquely suited to the Green Mountain region of Vermont. Enter Johnny Seesaw’s!  The history of this rustic eatery is well worth the reading (www.johnnyseesaws.com).  Attendees dined on local trout, the house specialty pork roulade, and scrumptious prime rib.   The first tinges of crisp fall weather blew in during the wedding week and guests to Johnny Seesaw’s were treated to the fireside ambiance created by the circular fire pit located in the heart of the venue.

Sikora & Dommenge - Vermont WeddingAfter a satisfying meal, guests retreated to the The Falcon Bar at the Equinox Hotel for a “Welcome to Vermont” pre-wedding bash!   Outside guests huddled together under winter wraps around the glowing fire tables.  Inside, a bluegrass band was jamming and drinks were flowing around the bar until the wee hours of the morning.

The morning of September 19th was clear and crisp.  Sabrina had reserved the bridal suite at The Wilburton Inn and staged hair/makeup at this location. I arrived early so that Sabrina and I could have some mother/daughter time before the bridesmaids converged.  When I arrived at her room, Sabrina was positively glowing!

The bridal party arrived at Hildene in early afternoon.  Artful coordination was exercised during pre-wedding photos to make certain Kevin and Sabrina did not see one another.
