New York Wedding Inspiration | Bridget & Daniel

BridgetDaniel Main

Big Tupper Ski Lodge is, according to their website, a "basic, no frills, affordable ski/snowboarding experience for individuals and families."  However, "basic" and "no frills" couldn't be FURTHER from the truth when it came to Bridget and Daniel's wedding day. They completely transformed the bare-bones lodge into a beautiful reception filled with lights hanging on tree branches, glowing lanterns, and simple rustic elegance. Almost everything was done by family members, friends, and other people who helped pull things together. The inspiration for the wedding came from Bridget's idea of "Burlap and Birch" but her mother (who recently started her own wedding event design business) is the true artist and knew that they could pull together a beautiful wedding that was on a budget.

That collaborative family team effort is why the wedding was so authentic and easy. The venue, an old abandoned ski lodge, is where Bridget grew up skiing, and started with nothing in it. Every piece that was in it was brought by friends and family. The two weeks of hard work paid off with a gorgeous end result that perfectly echoed the couple's vision.

A family friend made her famous cocunt cake and Bridget prepared all of the appetizers ahead of time herself. While a few buffet items came from a local Saranc Lake deli, the meats were cooked on the couple's own smoker. Some flowers were ordered but most came from Mother Nature in the form of lilacs and apple blossoms, and were arranged on site. When all was said and done, the flowers totaled $400.

The decor was steeped in personal meaning with heirloom pieces such as the lace table cloth that belonged to Bridget's late grandmother and an antique mirror that was her great-grandmother's. Daniel left his own apple orchard to move to Tupper Lake so there were many details involving apple trees and blossoms, including a chalk board apple tree mural drawn by Bridget's mother. Overall the wedding represented Bridget and Daniel and what they love with a lot of authenticity and a good helping of fun.
