Tarin & Derek's Country Celebration

Knoll's Barn, Derby, Vermont

Country style and charm is still very much alive in the mountains of Vermont and Tarin and Derek's Derby wedding is proof of that. A beautiful, outdoor ceremony overlooking a pond was a perfect beginning to a fun-filled party with family and friends. The bride and bridesmaids all wore cowgirl boots and were transported by an old wagon filled with bales of hay and the couple gave out hand painted horseshoes as favors. Knoll's Barn was a fitting backdrop for the teal and brown, country inspired celebration the couple desired. Here is what Tarin had to tell us about their special day:

How and where did you meet? I was a bartender at a local restaurant and he became a regular customer. The rest is history :-)

What was the proposal like? New Year’s at Stowe Mount Resort at Midnight while watching the fireworks out our room window. We went for a nice dinner before at the the Restaurant called “The Whip” on main street, Stowe, Vermont.

How did you choose your venue? I fell in love with the Barn when it was moved to it’s new location in 2003, VT Route 111, Derby, Vermont.

What was your theme/color palette? Country setting, Teals, browns and gold.

What was your favorite detail from your wedding? My girls wore low country boots, my seating chart, Our head table was served and the guests were buffet style, dessert table, cake only for the bride and groom.

How did your wedding reflect your relationship as a couple? We both love being out doors, the water, and as many friends and family to surround and support us. Our ceremony was outside overlooking a pond, with 200+ guests. It was a perfect day.

What was the song you had your first dance to? Love Of My Life, by KC and JoJo

How did your vendors help make your wedding day perfect? They assisted me from table to seating, to food and decorations. They were very involved and hands on. They brought their entire kitchen to my wedding. I felt their dedication to us.

What advice would you give other couples planning their wedding? Don’t stress about the small stuff. It’s almost a guarantee that something will be forgotten or go slightly wrong on your big day, you day will continue and your guests will not even notice. Relax and enjoy your special day as it goes by too fast!
