Jamie & Germain's Soaring Soiree

Burlington International Airport, Burlington, Vermont

When the Burlington Internation Airport announced last year their plans to rent a space for weddings, at a decent price, Jamie and Germain knew they wanted to be the first to have their wedding there. Area vendors quickly jumped at the chance to assist the couple in remaking the, rather unusual, space into something romantic and magical. We think they did a great job at taking a non-traditional venue and creatively transforming it into a space any modern couple could get excited about. Here is what Jamie had to say about their unique, first-ever, BTV wedding:

What was the proposal like? It was a very busy, Saturday afternoon cleaning our house and getting ready for a family trip we were taking the following week. I must have walked by my dining room table a dozen times while Germain tried to slow the tide and steer me toward a rose I had not yet seen. He had champagne in a glass and a red rose with my engagement ring on the stem waiting for me to notice. It was the ring I had fallen in love with.

How did you choose your venue? I wanted to be the first to have a wedding celebration in a location no one ever had before. I liked not fitting into the mold of traditional wedding spaces and I love being creative.  When we found the BTV airport team, we had an opportunity to do something different and I loved that. I just knew that was the perfect venue for us.

What was your theme/color palette? I love purple first, second and always. Germain loves gold and green. I chose my gown because it was exactly what I wanted.  My bridesmaids had to be in purple of course. I put my trust in the professionals I was working with to create the ambience after talking with all of them as a team and them individually.

How did your wedding reflect your relationship as a couple? It was a fresh, modern venue and we are open-minded and spontaneous. It also reflected our lives constantly being on the move as a young family.

What were some of your favorite moments? I loved the moment I reached Germain after my walk down the aisle at Billings through the white rose pedals. I loved the backdrop of blooming cherry blossoms. I loved the moment the ceremony began.  I was thrilled to see the mezzanine transformed into an upscsale reception lounge.

What was the song you had your first dance to? Seal – stand by me

What advice would you give other couples planning their wedding? Be brave with different opportunities. You need a great team behind you to listen and realize your desires. As we did, make sure you have an amazingly professional who can capture the moments that go by quickly.
